Unbeaten Defenders Progress to the Final

The Bost Defenders, who are yet to be beaten in the event, progressed to the grand final, as they held their nerves to beat the Speenghar Tigers by 6 runs in the first qualifier of the Etisalat SCL2022. 

The defenders were put into bat first, as they went on to put a respectable total of 176 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs. The skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi 62 (44) scored his fourth half-century in the event, Farhan Zakhil 52 (35), who was struggling to score runs early on in the event, also batted well and scored an important half-century. Samiullah Shinwari was the third batter to contribute with a brist 40*. Yamin Ahmadzai, Izharulhaq Naweed and Ismat Alam, all picked one wicket each.

The Tigers batted well but were not able to chase the target down as they failed to score 13 runs in the last over. Sharafuddin Ashraf 44, Shawkat Zaman 43*, Usman Ghani 32 and Ismat Alam 17* scored crucial runs but were not able to take the tigers home. Abdulrahman picked 2, whereas Ahmad Zia and Mohammad Saleem had one wicket each.

Hashmatullah Shahidi was named player of the match, Sharafuddin Ashraf won both the Stylish player as well as the most sixes of the match award whereas the Allrounder Abdulrahman Rahmani was awarded the game changer of the match award.

With this happening, the defenders progressed to the final, whereas the Tigers will face the winner of the Eliminator, which is set to be played between the Kabul Eagles and the Mis-e-Ainak Knights this afternoon.
