A captain’s knock from Kamal Khan Dam Defenders’ Gulbadin Naib eclipsed a brilliant ton earlier by an in-form Hashmatullah Shahidi to win the Kamal Khan Dam Trophy at Kabul Cricket Stadium.

Gulbadin eclipses Shahidi ton to win Kamal Khan Dam Trophy for Defenders

The T20 match was conducted by Afghanistan Cricket Board to celebrate the inauguration of the historic national project of Kamal Khan Dam in Nimroz province.

Batting first, Kamal Khan Dam Builders put on a dominant 225/3 on board courtesy of some brilliant batting by opening batsman Mohammad Shahzad and later by the stylish left-hander Hashmatullah Shahidi who scored his ton off just 52 deliveries smashing 10 sixes and 3 fours in the process.

In response, Kamal Khan Dam Defenders had a rough start as they lost quick wickets in Bahar Ali Shinwari & Shahidullah Kamal while Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a quick-fire 40 off just 16 deliveries. However, an exceptional captain’s knock from Gulbadin Naib who scored the match’s second century off just 49 deliveries took his team home as Sharafuddin Ashraf provided the finishing touch with a beautiful maximum.

The Kamal Khan Dam Trophy was organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board to commemorate the inauguration of the Kamal Khan Dam which is considered a historic national project for the country and important for the region.
