BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT AGM DECISIONS TO MEDIA

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB)’s board members held a press conference today at ACB headquarters where they shared some important decisions taken during the AGM a couple of weeks ago. As part of these decisions, the board members announced that Mr. Naweed Sayem the former National Team Manager and former Chief Selector Dawlat Ahmadzai ,who were suspended initially followed by an enquiry that concluded this week, were banned from being involved in any international Cricket affairs for a period of one year. Meanwhile, the former interim CEO Mr. Asadullah was also discharged from his duties as the interim CEO.

A three-member committee was appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to conduct an evaluation regarding ACB’s latest affairs. The committee shared its findings with the board this week resulting in important decisions.

Addressing the Press Conference, the head of the mentioned committee and board member Zia-ul-Haq Amarkheil thanked former board members for their services to ACB. He reiterated that H.E President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has pledged full support to ACB. He also said that the board members are committed to bring necessary reforms in the organization without any political affiliation.

Amarkheil added that in order to put the reforms in practice, the committee finalized their decisions regarding the three officials who were under evaluation. The decisions include the suspension of former National Team manager Naweed Sayem and Former Chief Selector Dawlat Ahmadzai from being involved in any matters involving International Cricket for a period of one year while they will continue to serve in domestic cricket. The committee also decided to formally discharge Mr. Asadullah Khan of his duties as the acting CEO of ACB.

Amarkheil remarked that the selection process for appointing CEO was transparent resulting in Mr. Lutfullah Stanikzai assuming the responsibility. Furthermore, he called the newly appointed Captain Rashid Khan a global star who has achieved a lot for the country over the last few years.

Mr. Atif Mashal, another board member, reiterated the board’s full commitment to the organization’s betterment. He congratulated the newly appointed CEO and Captain expressing his best wishes to both. Mashal added that the board will ensure ACB have a strategic plan for five to fifteen years.

He added: “The present policies will be reviewed and amended if required to enrich them while new policies will be framed as per the organizational requirement. This will ensure the organizational affairs are run as per the constitution. “

He further added that the board members are committed to ensure transparency in the organization because Cricket is a source of joy for the country.

It is worth mentioning that as per ACB constitution, the organization’s chairman also serves as the head of the board.
