Afghanistan Future Stars, banking on a dominant bowling performance, went past Bangladesh U19s comprehensively to start the U19 Tri-Series with a big win.
Earlier in the morning, Bangladesh U19s have elected to bat first, but were straight-away under some tremendous pressure as they were first reduced to 30/5 and then were bundled out for 75 runs in 22.5 overs. Bashir Ahmad (4/23), Kamran Hotak (3/13), Khalil Ahmad (2/16) and Yama (1/23) bowled exceptionally well to ensure Afghanistan chase a smaller total in the 2nd inning.
In reply, Afghanistan made an eventful start to the chase as they made 45 runs in the first five overs but lost three wickets in the process. Sohail Khan (33*) and Mohammad Haroon (21*) ensured that Afghanistan did not lose any other wicket and chased the target in 9.5 overs. Bashir Ahmad (4/23) was named the player of the match for his brilliant bowling display.
Bangladesh U19s will meet Sri Lanka in the 2nd match of the Tri-Series on Monday whereas Afghanistan will face Sri Lanka on the 22nd of March in Abu Dhabi.
