Bangladesh take the third match but Afghanistan secure the Series Victory

Bangladesh emerged victorious in the third and final match of the three-match ODI series by 7 wickets. However, Afghanistan had already won the first two games and took the series 2-1, marking the first time they have won a series in Bangladesh.

After winning the toss, Afghanistan opted to bat first but struggled to put up a decent performance as they were bundled out for 126 runs in their first inning. Azmatullah Omarzai was the only player who managed to score a half-century by scoring 56 runs while Hashmatullah Shahidi contributed 22 runs.

In reply, Afghanistan started off strong, with Fazal Haq Farooqi taking two wickets with the new ball. However, Bangladesh's batting lineup performed well, ultimately securing a comfortable 7-wicket victory. Mohammad Nabi, who took the wicket of Shakib Al Hassan for the second time in the series, reached the milestone of 150 ODI wickets with an economy rate of 4.30. He also became the first Afghanistan player to score over 3000 runs and take 150 wickets.

Fazal Haq Farooqi, who took eight wickets in the series, was awarded the Player of the Series award. Afghanistan won the ODI series 2-1 and will now commence their T20I series against Bangladesh on Friday, July 14 in Sylhet.
