All-round Mis Ainak Registered 2nd Victory in GAK Cup

Naweed Obaid (55), Yousuf Shah (50) and Shahidullah (71) scored half centuries & Noor Ahmad took 4 wickets to help Mis Ainak beat Speen Ghar Region & hand them their third straight loss.

Earlier in the day, Mis Ainak won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers Naweed Obaid and Yousuf Shah provided their team with an excellent start and shared 102 runs in between them for the first wicket in 19.3 overs.

After the fall of the first wicket, Shahidullah came into bat and continued his great form & scored his 3rd consecutive 50+ score of the event. He followed his century and unbeaten half century in the first two GAK Cup games with another good knock of 71 off 84 balls including 8 boundaries to help his side post a decent total of 253/6.

Rahmanullah Zadran also scored a handy 39 and played a supporting role to his captain in the first inning. For SG, Aftab Alam, who was part of the national team camp in Qatar and had just joined his team in Kandahar, picked two wickets by conceding nearly 9 runs per over. His fellow mate Abdullah Adil remained wicket less while Tariq Stanikzai, Shawkat Zaman and Arif Khan picked 1 wicket each.

In response, Shabir Noori lost his wicket early but the young pair of Nasir Omar and the talented opener Tamim Surkhrodi did well and shared 88 runs for the 2nd wicket. Tamim was struck in front by Ihsan, while Nasir went after Shahid and skied one straight to Fazal Zazai.

Over the next 5 balls, both Tariq Stanikzai and Shawkat Zaman were reduced to only 4 & 0 respectively by the chainaman Noor Ahmad and the off spinner Ihsanullah. The allrounder Ismat Alam joined Bahir Shah in the middle and started to rebuild the inning from there, both made a partnership of 73 runs and somehow managed to make the game more watchful, but both right arm quick Yousuf Zazai & the left arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad struck one after the other to reduce SG to 192/7.

Young wicket keeper and talented batsman Mohammad Ishaq joined Ismat to take their team home and help them for their first victory but they were restricted by some tight bowling from Mis Ainak bowlers.

Ismat was undone by a beauty from Noor Ahmad for 32 off (48 balls) to swing the game back to MA’s favor. Yousuf Zazai shattered Aftab Alam’s stumps with a full delivery and only 2 balls later, after conceding a Six, Ishaq was removed by the mystery spin of Noor Ahmad.

Overall, Bahir Shah made 51, Nasir Omar scored 41, Tamim contributed with a handy 40 & Ismat tried hard with his 32 runs for SG but these were not enough to get them home. For Mis Ainak, Noor Ahmad bagged 4 wickets, Yousuf Zazai picked 3 while Ihsanullah and Shahidullah took 2 & 1 wickets respectively.

Shahidullah Kamal, with his all-round display, was awarded as the player of the match. With this win, Mis Ainak added two more points to their tally while Speen Ghar slipped down to the bottom of the table. On the other side, the table toppers AMO and BOOST regions will up against each other in the 7th match of the GAK Cup 2021 tomorrow.
