AFGHANISTAN U19 BEAT PAKISTAN IN U19 ASIA CUP OPENER

Afghanistan U19 started their campaign in the ACC U19 Asia Cup successfully as they beat Pakistan U19 by 85 runs (D/L method) in their opening match of the tournament.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first in a match shortened to 46 overs per side due to rain. Afghanistan posted 162/9 in the allotted overs setting a target of 164 runs under D/L method. Sediqullah Atal, Rahmanullah and Farhan Zakhil scored 29, 27 and 19 runs respectively. Pakistan’s Farhad Munir and Amir Ali took three wickets each.

In response, Pakistan U19 were all out for 78 in 19.4 overs losing the match by 85 runs. Shafiqullah Ghafari was pick of the bowlers with three wickets while Fazal Haq ,Abid Taniwal and Noor Ahmad took two wickets each.

Ghafari was adjudged player of the match for his terrific bowling performance.

Afghanistan will play their next match in the competition on 7th against Kuwait U19.
