AfghanAbdalyan Storm into the Semis with a Narrow Win Over Sri Lanka

AfghanAbdalyan (116/10) has advanced to the Semi-Finals of the Asian Games Men's Cricket Competitions after a narrow victory over Sri Lanka (108/10). The team, led by skipper Gulbadin Naib (3/28) and leg-spinner Qais Ahmad (3/16), successfully defended their low total to beat Sri Lanka by 8 runs.

Earlier in the morning, the AfghanAbdalyan were put into bat first, the decision, that worked straightaway for Sri Lanka as they got their first wicket in the 2nd over by removing Sediqullah Atal with a beautiful Yorker. Mohammad Shahzad (20) and Noor Ali Zadran (51) shared a 54-run stand before Shahdidullah Kamal struck a 14-ball 23 to give Afghanistan some charge in the middle overs.

Despite being 92/3 in the 15th over, AfghanistanAbdalyan collapsed suddenly and were bundled out for 116 runs in the first inning. Noor Ali Zadran was the top scorer with 51 runs as he scored his 4th T20I half-century.

AfghanAbdalyan kept bowling tight lines and lengths and kept taking wickets at regular intervals to keep Sri Lanka in check. The opponents got going at some stages but AfghanAbdalyan, led by some incredible bowling by Qais Ahmad (3/16) and Gulbadin Naib (3/28), kept producing wickets to bundle them out for 108 runs.

With the win over Sri Lanka, AfghanistanAbdalyan has secured their Semi-Final berth and will face Pakistan in the 2nd Semi-Final on Friday at the same venue.
