AfghanAbdalyan Beat Oman A to Start on a Winning Note

AfghanAbdalyan, banking on Zubaid Akbari’s half-century and Mohammad Ibrahim & Zia Akbar’s bowling brilliance, beat Oman A by 72 runs to start their run at the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 on a winning note.

Abdalyan won the toss and opted to bat first, and put a decent batting effort on display as they managed to score 267/8 in an inning that was reduced to 49 overs due to a late start caused by wet outfield earlier in the morning. Zubaid Akbar struck 79, Skipper Shahidullah Kamal made 37, Noor Ali Zadran scored 35 whereas Ikram Alikhil & Riaz Hassan contributed with 34* and 27 runs respectively.

In reply, Mohammad Ibrahim Abdulrahimzai (3/22) and Zia Ur Rahman Akbar (3/37) shared 6 wickets between them, Izharulhaq Naveed picked 2/42 whereas Sharafuddin Ashraf (1/30) and Sayed Ahmad Shirzad (1/48) returned with a wicket apiece. The top-order batter Zubaid Akbar was adjudged the player of the match for his batting heroics.

AfghanAbdalyan will meet Sri Lanka A for their 2nd match in the event on Saturday, July 15 in Colombo.
