ACB postpones domestic Elite Grade I tournament to avoid spread of COVID-19 virus

Afghanistan Cricket Board has postponed the provincial Grade I cricket tournament competition in a bid to stop the spread of the novel Corona Virus or COVID-19. The tournament, which was originally scheduled to start on 15th March, is now postponed to 25th March 2020. The decision was taken following recent developments in the country to stop the spread of the virus. An emergency meeting was held at ACB headquarters earlier today chaired by ACB leadership to make this decision for the safety of players and officials.

ACB recommends that all the private cricket academies in the country also suspend their activities and follow future recommendations of both ACB and the Ministry of Public Health. ACB will also conduct a further assessment of the situation next week to decide about domestic and international cricket.

Meanwhile, ACB’s administrative and routine activities will continue in Kabul and all other regional offices as preventive measures are being taken across the offices to avoid the spread of the virus.
