ACB leadership, board members participate in AGM 2020

The Annual General Meeting of Afghanistan Cricket Board was held today chaired by ACB Chairman Mr. Farhan Yusefzai and also attended by Board members as well as ACB CEO Mr. Rahmatullah Qureishi. During the meeting, Mr. Qureishi presented a detailed presentation about ACB's achievements and activities during the year 2020 as well as the annual plan for the year 2021.

ACB leadership, board members participate in AGM 2020

The Annual General Meeting of Afghanistan Cricket Board was held today chaired by ACB Chairman Mr. Farhan Yusefzai and also attended by Board members as well as ACB CEO Mr. Rahmatullah Qureishi.

During the meeting, Mr. Qureishi presented a detailed presentation about ACB's achievements and activities during the year 2020 as well as the annual plan for the year 2021. 

To commence the meeting, Mr. Yusefzai welcomed all the participants and expressed satisfaction that despite many hurdles and adversities due to COVID-19 Pandemic, ACB was able to have great achievements, bring major reforms, secure land for Kabul's state of the art stadium and take pride with Rashid Khan's historic achievement of being declared the ICC T20I Player of the decade. 

He further added, " The year 2021 is the busiest year for Afghan cricket so far in terms of international and domestic cricket. ACB has devised major plans, revenue streams, reforms and other important schemes which we hope will be organized and implemented successfully. 

Afterwards ACB CEO provided a detailed presentation on the organization's achievements, domestic cricket, revenue, future fixtures, new stadium in Kabul, financial management and clearances, policy development, women cricket and other important issues. 

Initiating the presentation, ACB CEO expressed thanks to H.E President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for approving the allocation of land for a standardized stadium in Kabul the initial construction of which will be commenced soon. 

He continued the presentation and remarked," In 2020, we conducted many events in domestic cricket including List-A tournament, Shpageeza Cricket League, Challenge Cup Grade III , Grade II and Elite Cup Grade I as well as training camps for U16, U19 and disabled players.  

Mr. Qurieshi also briefed the participants about the training camps for National team in Greater Noida, UAE and Kabul. 
He further added," COVID-19 pandemic affected cricketing activities across the globe and Afghanistan was no exception as it resulted in lack of cricket for our players. However, it will be compensated with a busy cricketing schedule in 2021. "

Mr. Qureishi also shed light on administrative reforms and added,"We have a transparent procurement system in place now. Furthermore, we closed down guest houses to avoid extra expenses. The accomodation of players will be taken care through provisional means. " 

The ACB CEO also described how ACB managed to maintain its financial stability despite tumultous times due to COVID-19 Pandemic. 
He also pointed on HR and administrative reforms which has resulted in a transparent and efficient recruitment process. 
Mr. Qureishi further remarked, " We have also started the process to develop a player database which will assist in and simplify selection process. It will make the selection transparent."

He briefed the board members about the policy development, devising strategic plans, departmental reforms, selection reforms, development of women cricket, infrastructural development, registration of and revenue generation from academied as well as other game development activities. 

Mr. Qureishi also requested the board members to help the organization secure financial resources including Main Sponsorship. He added that although Afghanistan has a busy international schedule, ACB management is striving best to conduct Afghanistan Premier League T20 in partnership with RTA Sport. 

1Members of the board Mr.Haroun Mir, Mr. Zia ul Haq Amarkhil, Mohammad Nabi, Fareidoon Elham and Mrs. Gulalai Safi presented their respective recommendations which were duly acknowledged by ACB chairman and CEO. 

In response to board members' query about ACB's increase in revenue generation, ACB Chairman remarked," We have raised the issue with the ICC Chairman and demanded that Afghanistan be also awarded grants required for a full-member of the council. Meanwhile, we have also asked the government for further assistance financially especially for the construction of the new stadium which will be realized soon."

To conclude the meeting, board members thanked ACB Chairman Farhan Yusefzai for his efficient leadership and having an annual plan for 2021. The members pledged to help ACB in generating more revenues.

The ACB Annual General Meeting is an annual event held each year and led by chairman. It is attended by ACB CEO in addition to the board members as they discuss the activities and achiements during the concerned year and discuss plans for the upcomomg year.
