Abdalyan Beat Sri Lanka A to register 2nd Successive Win

Abdalyan Beat Sri Lanka A to register 2nd Successive Win

Ibrahim Abdulrahimzai (4/22), Zia Akbar (2/44) and Saleem Safi (2/47) have put on an incredible bowling display to help AfghanAbdalyan beat Sri Lanka A by 11 runs for their successive win at the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. 

Earlier in the morning, AfghanAbdalyan were put into bat first. Riaz Hassan (82) and Noor Ali Zadran (53) scored half-centuries whereas Ikram Alikhil chipped in with an unbeaten 34 runs as the team posted 252/9 in the first inning. 

In reply, Ibrahim Abdulrahimzai started off the inning with a first-ball wicket as he trapped Aveshka Fernando for Zero to give Afghanistan an excellent start with the ball. Ibrahim took four wickets in his opening spell, although Minod Bhanuka (119) scored a hundred to keep fighting but lost his wicket when they were 24 runs away from victory. 

This was the 2nd successive victory for Abdalyan in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. They will meet Bangladesh A in their 3rd game in the event on Tuesday, July 18 in Colombo.
