Shafiqullah Shafaq has been charged under ACB anti-corruption code and provisionally suspended with immediate effect. The charges relate to the first edition of the Afghanistan Premier League and one other investigation

SHAFIQULLAH SHAFAQ CHARGED UNDER ACB ANTI-CORRUPTION CODE

Mr.Shafaq has been charged with the following breaches under the ACB Anti-Corruption Code:

Article 2.1.1 – being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of matches

Article 2.1.3 Seeking, accepting, offering or agreeing to accept any bribe or other Reward to (a) fix or to contrive in any way or otherwise to influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of any Domestic Match or (b) ensure for Betting or other corrupt purposes the occurrence of a particular incident in a Domestic Match.

Article 2.1.4 – Attempting to solicit, induce, entice, persuade, encourage or intentionally facilitate a Participant to breach Article 2.1.

Article 2.4.4 – failing to report the approaches or invitations that you received from three different individuals to be a party to an agreement or effort to fix matches.

Article 2.4.5 – Failing or refusing to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (without unnecessary delay) full details of any incident, fact, or matter that comes to the attention of a Participant that the Participant reasonably should know may evidence Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code by another Participant, including (without limitation) approaches or invitations that have been received by another Participant to engage in conduct that would amount to a breach of this Anti-Corruption Code.

Shafiqullah has been given 14 days from 10th February 2020 to respond to the charges pressed against him. The ACB ACU will not make any further comment in respect of these charges at this stage.
