Raza Khan, who has been conferred with the title of Cricket Baba by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), said he has indebted thousands of Afghans because he used to travel to many countries to watch his national cricket team’s matches abroad.

RAZA KHAN NAMED AS "BABA OF CRICKET"

Raza Khan, who has been conferred with the title of Cricket Baba by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), said he has indebted thousands of Afghans because he used to travel to many countries to watch his national cricket team’s matches abroad. 

Hailing from the Samkani district of southeastern Paktia province, Raza Khan has been living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he worked as daily wage labor. Khan never missed a chance to watch cricket match of Afghanistan since the national team had begun playing in the gulf nation.

He used to wear special uniform made of Afghan national flag to support the national heroes. The ACB Director Nasimullah Danish in a press conference conferred Razan Khan with the title of Cricket Baba (father of cricket). Danish said that Raza Khan supported player inside and outside the country and he contributed to the success of national cricket team. 

He praised the cricket Baba love and passion for the game and said Khan appeared with Afghan flag in every game and was active supporter of Afghan players. Raza Khan praised the ACB for giving him the Baba-i-Cricket title and said he wished to see national team playing on international level. 

According to Khan, earlier he used to see Pakistani people going to stadiums in UAE in support of their team and he was really disappointed at the time because Afghanistan had no team at that time.
