ICC ANNOUNCES MEN'S FUTURE TOUR PROGRAMME 2018-2023
Home Media International 21 Jun 2018
The International Cricket Council, on behalf of its Members, today released the Future Tours Programme (FTP) from 2018-2023. The FTP includes fixtures for all three formats of the game.
As part of the newly released FTP, A World Test Championship is created along with a 13-team men’s ODI league in which 12 Test playing nations and the Netherlands, will participate.
As part of the 13-team ODI League, which will run from 1 May 2020 to 31 March 2022 , all the sides will play eight series over a two-year cycle on a home and away basis against mutually agreed opponents.
Afghanistan will start the ODI league fixtures when they host Ireland for a home series in January 2021 that will include one Test, three ODIs and three T20Is.
This league will serve as a qualification pathway for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. India (as host) plus the seven highest-ranked sides in the ODI league as on 31 March 2022 will qualify directly for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, while the bottom five sides will get a second chance to qualify through the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
Afghanistan will play 13 Tests, 51 ODIs and 45 T20Is as part of the FTP 2018-2023 in which 7 tests, 26 ODIs and 23 T20Is will constitute Home matches. It shall be noted that these matches do not include the ones from ICC ODI and T20I tournaments as well as matches/series mutually agreed between ACB and other member boards.
The following table illustrates Afghanistan’s matches as part of FTP 2018-2023.
