GERMAN-FUNDED KHOST CRICKET STADIUM CONSTRUCTION COMPLETED

Khost Cricket Stadium being constructed at the Khost City, with the financial support of the German Embassy and designed by Ministry of Counter Narcotics (MCN).

This modern and superbly-designed stadium will help to present a fair image of the country in the International cricket. The stadium, which is being designed according to the ICC standards, will have three-levels to house around 10,000 people. The stadium will also have a cricket academy.

The Chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board Nasimullah Danish said, that building a cricket stadium in the country was an honour for the Afghanistan Cricket Board. He said our aim is to bring the international cricket to the country. “The donor agencies and ACB have always played an important role in the development of the cricket in the country and it will continue to do so,” he added.

“Sports united the country and enthused the young, we are hopeful that this new facility would further popularize cricket and bring peace and prosperity to Afghanistan. We are very thankful to the implementing partners Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan Regional Integration Program (PATIRP) Foundation and Organization for Relief (ORD) for cricket facility in Khost.” Said ACB CEO Shafiq Stanikzai.

Nasrat Tasal, cricket fan and Khost based sports journalist said that we are very happy and thankful to the German Embassy and Afghanistan Cricket Board construction of cricket stadium in Khost. “We are happy and satisfied with the progress of the work on this project,” he added.

Official opening and Khost Cricket Stadium handover ceremony will be this year in November, 2016.
