Having won the toss, Zimbabwe opted to field first in their second T20I of the series. Afghanistan’s opening pair consisted of Hazratullah Zazai and debutant wicket-keeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The pair gave Afghanistan a great opening stand as Gurbaz , in particular, scored 43 off just 24 deliveries hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours in the process.
Zimbabwe came back with quick wickets as the runs dried and Afghanistan were once struggling at 90/4 in 13.2 overs. However, Mohammad Nabi and Najiullah Zadran unleased a strong partnership adding 107 runs in just 40 deliveries which also included 88 runs off the last 5 overs. Zadran top-scored with 69 runs off just 30 deliveries that included 6 sixes and 5 fours while Nabi scored 38 runs in just 18 balls including four consecutive sixes off a Tendai Chatara over.
In response, Zimbabwe lost wickets at quick intervals chasing a huge total of 198 runs to win the contest and were struggling visibly being 96/6 in 13.3 overs as Rashid Khan and Fareed Malik took two wickets each.
Regis Chakabva, however, provided some positive to take for Zimbabwe from the game scoring an amazing knock of 42 runs off just 22 delivers that included 2 sixes and 3 fours as he added 45 runs for the seventh wicket with Neville Madziva.
Consequently, a target of 198 runs proved too much for Zimbabwe as they could manage 169/7 off the allotted 20 overs losing the match by 28 runs.
