2019 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mr. Azizullah Fazli and other board members held the 2019 Annual General Meeting on Saturday 6th July at the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. The meeting saw some important decisions including the evaluation of Afghanistan National Cricket Team performance in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. The decisions made at the Annual General Meeting were later shared with media representatives during a press conference.

The meeting was attended by ACB Chairman Azizullah Fazil and other members including Gulalai Noor Safi, Faraidon Elham, Mohammad Jawad Paikar, Ziaul Haq Amarkhail, Shukrullah Atif Mashal, Nooryalai Ibrahimi, proxy to Abdul Rahman Alkozai. The only absent member was Kamila Sediqqi.

During the press conference, Mr. Fazli first introduced Mohammad Jawad Paikar, Ziaul Haq Amerkhel, Shukrullah Atif Mashal and Gulalai Noor Safi as new members of the board who were recently appointed by the President and ACB Parton-in-Chief, His Excellency Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. He also thanked the former members of the board for their services.

Major decisions made at the board meeting included the suspension of Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Asadullah Khan, former Chief Selector Dawlat Khan Ahmadzai and National Cricket Team Manager Naweed Sayem Kakar. The Board assigned a three-member committee consisting of Ziaulhaq Amarkahil, Shukrullah Atif Mashal and Faraidoon  Elham to probe the matter further and report back to the Board.

The meeting also discussed the appointment of new CEO for ACB and asked eligible candidates to submit their applications for the CEO’s role until 8th July in order for the incoming CEO to attend the ICC meeting on 14th July in London.

Afghanistan National Cricket Team’s performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup, achievements, problems, captaincy and other issues would be evaluated and assessed in order to make relevant decisions in the upcoming meeting.

Earlier, there were reports about corruption in Afghanistan Premier League but ICC investigations have now been completed and showed that APLT20 was a transparent league. The second edition of APLT20 will be held in the month of October later this year.
