About Afghanistan Cricket Board
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the sole independent governing body for managing, organizing and development of Cricket (Men and Women) in Afghanistan. The game of cricket was officially established in 1995 in Afghanistan. It was granted affiliate membership by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001, associate membership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003 and full membership of International Cricket Council in June 2017. Afghanistan has its National Cricket Teams playing among top 10 cricketing countries of the world.
Job Summary
The Fielding Coach for the Afghanistan National Cricket Team is responsible for developing and enhancing the fielding skills of the players. This role involves creating structured training programs, organizing practice sessions, and providing hands-on coaching to improve fielding techniques, agility, and overall performance in the field. The Fielding Coach collaborates closely with the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and other support staff to integrate fielding strategies into the team's overall game plan.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive fielding programs to enhance players' catching, throwing, and ground fielding skills.
- Conduct regular assessments of players' fielding abilities and provide personalized coaching plans to address weaknesses.
- Collaborate with the coaching staff and HPC department to plan and execute effective fielding drills during practice sessions.
- Integrate fielding exercises seamlessly into the team's overall training regimen.
- Analyze opposition teams to identify fielding strengths and weaknesses, providing insights to the coaching staff.
- Work with players on strategic field placements and effective game-time decision-making.
- Coordinate with the fitness coach to integrate fielding-specific fitness and agility drills into players' training routines.
- Monitor players' physical condition and address any concerns related to fielding fitness.
- Apply safe fielding practices, identify and minimize risk factors to fielders
- Work closely with the Strength and Conditioning Coach and Physiotherapist in applying appropriate strength and conditioning principles relevant to safe fielding
- Communicate effectively with players, providing constructive feedback and motivation to encourage continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that emphasizes the importance of fielding in overall team success.
- Stay updated on the latest fielding techniques, tools, and technologies to incorporate innovative methods into coaching strategies.
- Utilize video analysis and other technology-driven tools to assess and improve fielding performance.
- Work closely with the Selection Committee through Head Coach & HPC department to assess the fielding capabilities of players during selection processes.
- Provide input on fielding aspects to assist in squad selection for matches.
- Collaborate with other coaches to ensure seamless integration of fielding strategies with batting and bowling tactics.
- Attend team meetings to provide insights into fielding plans and strategies.
- Travel to Afghanistan for any cricketing activities involving national team players, including series, camps, training sessions, and domestic events designed to support and prepare the national team for upcoming events.
- To work with the A Team as needed, for specific development tours, camps, or other relevant activities.
Job Requirements
- Coaching certification, at least Level 2 and higher will be preferable.
- At least 10 years proven experience as a cricket coach with a focus on fielding with any high-ranking team.
- Strong understanding of modern fielding techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire players to excel in their fielding performances.
- Familiarity with the specific requirements and dynamics of international cricket.
- Playing a crucial role in elevating the overall fielding standards of the Afghanistan National Cricket Team, contributing to the team's success on the international stage.
