Nasir, Farhan & Spinners lead Amo Region to 3rd Win in GAK Cup

Nasir Jamal (86*), Farhan Zakhil (71) scored fifties & Abdul Wasi, Jamshid Khan and Ibrahim Safi shared 7 wickets between them to put an end to the winning streak of Boost Region and hand them their first defeat. 

Earlier in the day, Boost Region chose to bat first, Nasibullah Sherdali who made his List A debut in this match, provided a good start for his team, he shared 44 runs for the first wicket with Ihsanullah Janat and had a partnership of 60 runs for the 2nd wicket with Ainuddin Kakar before nicking one behind to the wicket keeper for a solid 34. 

Ainuddin kept the scoreboard ticking for the Bost region and scored a well made 61 off 69 including 5 boundaries and a couple of sixes. Munir Ahmad once again got the start but couldn’t convert that into a big one and got out cheaply for 17. 

The middle overs were dominated by the Amo Spinners as they didn’t allow the opposite batters to bat long against them. The emerging fast bowling allrounder Abidullah Taniwal once again contributed well with the bat and scored a good cameo of 34 runs off 31 balls including 2 sixes and as many fours. 

Boost were bundled out for 248 runs in 49.2 overs. For Amo Region, Abdulwasi Noori was the pick of bowlers who has picked 3 wickets for 47 runs out of his 10 overs quota. The right arm off spin duo of Jamshid and Ibrahim picked 2 wickets apiece while the fasters Mohammad Saleem and Muhib Zurmati took 2 and 1 wickets respectively.

In response, Farhan Zakhil along with Abdul Malik provided their team Amo with an excellent start and made a solid platform for their middle order to chase the target down and register their 3rd straight victory. 

Farhan scored 71, Malik made 26, the debutant Zubair Ahmadi had 22 before Nasir Jamal played a captain knock and guided his team to an emphatic victory with an unbeaten 86 off 85 balls including 13 boundaries. Leggy Ahmad Zia picked two wickets for Boost Region. Nasir Jamal was awarded as the player of the match. 

With this happening, Boost region slipped to third place in the point table while Amo kept on their merry way and cemented their place at the top of the table. From the other side, the bottom two teams SG and BA will face each other tomorrow in the 8th match of the GAK Cup 2021.
