Malik & Spinners Led Amo to 2nd successive Final

Test Capped Abdul Malik smashed a blistering century 137 (149) and spinners took 9 wickets to help Amo region qualify to the grand final of the GAK Cup 2021.

Earlier in the morning, Amo won the toss and elected to bat first in the first semi final of the GAK Cup 2021 against Band Amir region. Farhan and Abdul Malik started the inning solidly for thief team but Farhan, after smashing two sixes and as many boundaries in way to 23 (30), was trapped in-front by Abdul Rahman.

Imran Mir joined Malik at the crease and both batted for 22.2 runs together and shared 125 runs between them. Imran made a handy 59 before he was removed by the senior left arm spinner Nasratullah. Skipper Nasir Jamal came in to bat but added only 20 runs to the team tally before he was taken by the opposite captain.

Later on, after being involved in a mix up with Zubair Ahmadi (17 off 13), Abdul Malik got run out, scoring 17 boundaries in his way to 137. Abdul Wasi also contributed nicely with 16 runs to help Amo post a mammoth 291/9. For BA, Right arm Medium Nijat Masood picked 3 while  Nasratullah, Zubaid Akbari, Zia Ul Haq and Abdul Rahman took 1 wicket each.

In response, BA Amir lost Zubaid Akbari, the Man of the Match in the last match, early on for only 5, Afsar Zazai also went on to lose his wicket without any major contribution but the opener Amanullah Rafiqi (53), skipper Zia Ul Haq (66) and then Nisar Wahdat (58) batted well and made half centuries to keep their team up in the chase but couldn’t resist till the end.

Sediq Atal (16), who came to bat at 6, couldn’t help his side to move closer towards the target and once again failed to contribute. Abdul Rahman at the end, made a fighting 29 but was left alone as the last man Nasratullah got run out courtesy of some sharp fielding from Amo to restrict BA to 260 runs in 48.3 overs.

National capped leg spinner Abdul Wasi Noori bagged 5 wickets for 54 runs for his team. Zohaib, the left arm spinner, took 3 while the off spinner Ibrahim Safi picked one to help their side qualify to the final for the 2nd successive time in two years.

Abdul Malik, for his match winning inning, was awarded as the player of the match. Amo qualified to where they left last years. The defending champions  Mis Ainak will take on Boost Region in the semi final of the tournament tomorrow to decide who joins the Amo region in the final.
