Kabul: March 9, 2024: The Afghanistan Cricket Board convened an important Board Members meeting concerning the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) on March 8, 2024, in the United Arab Emirates. The meeting was led by the ACB Chairman and was attended by board members to thoroughly review the reports submitted by the designated delegation and issue instructions to ensure the successful advancement of the process.

Alongside the ACB Chairman, the meeting attendees included ACB CEO Mr. Naseeb Khan, Board Member Haji Obaidullah Sader Khail, Mr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam, Mr. Zmari Kamgar, Mr. Allah Dad Noori, Mr. Khan Jan Alkozai, and Mr. Raees Khan Ahmadzai, as well as the assigned committee members for APL.

The discussions primarily centered on evaluating three companies that competed to be the ACB’s investment partner for the league. Following discussions, two companies were selected for the technical & financial evaluation and background review. In addition, the assigned committee for APL was instructed to conduct extensive evaluations and present a final report to the board for the final decision.

Throughout the meeting, ACB Board Members raised inquiries regarding the potential investment companies, which were addressed comprehensively by the relevant committee. The ACB started the process by assigning a committee in April 2023 to assess the resumption of APLT20, followed by the announcement of an RFP for Investment Partnership rights in June 2023. Three of the five interested companies were selected for the following stage, with two proceeding to the final evaluation round.

The ACB leadership and board members expressed optimism that the relevant processes would be expedited to help the Afghanistan Premier League resume as soon as possible. The meeting concluded with a collective determination to finalize proceedings swiftly and initiate practical steps towards organizing the league, keeping in mind its importance for the cricketing community and organizational growth.
