I had confidence in my batting which paid off- Abdul Rahman

Young all-rounder Abdul Rahman put on a match-winning performance yesterday against England U19 to secure a much-needed win for Afghanistan in the warm-up match of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. Abdul Rahman, a fast-bowling all-rounder, said that he had full confidence in his batting and thanked the coaching staff for trusting him with the responsibility to help the team post a good total on board after they were at a critical point of the match with 59/4 in the 24th over.

“Four wickets were down and the coaches trusted me to stay at the wicket and rotate the strike regularly to build a partnership.” said Abdul Rahman after the match, “They trusted my ability to hit big shots at the end” He continued. “I did as I was instructed and it paid off as I hit a half-century and helped the team out of a critical situation.”

Abdul Rahman continued to shine in the second half of the match as well. “I was happy that I could contribute with the ball as well as I took two wickets at a crucial point in the match which ultimately helped us win the match. “

The young all-rounder is tipped as a bright all-round prospect after his terrific performances in the one-day series against India U19 in Lucknow in December 2019.

Afghanistan will kick-off their campaign at the U19 Cricket World Cup this Friday against South Africa U19 at Kimberley, South Africa.
