Afghanistan U19s are placed in Group C of the ICC-19s CWC 2022

Afghanistan National U19 Cricket team will participate in the 14th edition of the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will take place in Caribbean for the first time ever. The tournament will see 16 teams in 4 different groups to compete in 48 matches from January 14 to February 5.

Afghanistan U19s are placed in Group C of the ICC-19s CWC 2022

Afghanistan National U19 Cricket team will participate in the 14th edition of the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will take place in Caribbean for the first time ever. The tournament will see 16 teams in 4 different groups to compete in 48 matches from January 14 to February 5. 

Afghanistan National U19s are placed alongside the neighbor Pakistan, Zimbabwe & Papua New Guinea in Group C of the 16-team tournament.

They will start their run at the ICC Under 19s CWC against Zimbabwe at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex, Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Afghan Future Stars will then lock horns against PNG in their next game on the January 18, 2022 at the same venue, while they will travel to Brain Lara Cricket Academy in T&T to face Pakistan U19s in their last match of the group stage. 

Afghanistan alongside all the participants will also feature in 2 warm-up games from January 9 to 12, prior to the start of the event, to better prepare for the main draw of the World Cup. 

Afghan National U19s are already busy doing training and preparatory camps for the upcoming big events. They have traveled to Bangladesh in September 2021, where they played 5 ODs and 1 four-day game, losing the ODs 3-2 & winning the one-off youth test match. 

Since their return to country, a couple of month-long preparation camps were conducted, with the first one took place in Kabul while the 2nd training camp is currently underway in Nangarhar province, which will last for 15 more days and will see Afghan Youths play in a 5 intra-squad games during the camp.
