Mohammad Salam, son of Mohammad Aslam, is the current Finance Manager of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, who was born in 1990 in Khaki-e-Jabbar district of Kabul province.
Mr. Salam has completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance (PGDBF) from CMC Academy, India, and has subsequently accomplished his Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration (BBA) in Financial Management from the University of Pune, India. He also carries a Diploma in Economics and Business (DEB) from Karwan University, and is currently pursuing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in Kabul.
For his outstanding academic performance and receiving many prestigious prizes, Mr. Salam was adjudged as the student of the year at the University of Pune in 2013/14, which is regarded to be a great achievement in his academic career. Mohammad Salam is considered a highly skilled Accounting & Finance Professional and is very good at Financial Modeling, Financial Forecasting, Financial Analysis, and Financial Reporting.
As Finance Manager of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, he oversees all areas of finance including but not limited to payroll, accounts payables and receivables, events budgeting, cash management, general ledger, banking and reconciliations, master budgets, cash flow and funds flow statements. Mr. Salam also provides strategic financial analysis for the senior management to determine the profitability and time efficiency of the cricketing events. He also prepares quarterly, semi-annually and annually financial statements and reports related to special events required by the senior management, the ICC & ACC. He has also contributed to the development of the organization’s financial policies and procedures including implementing the Cricket Operations Manual and ensuring compliance with the business & government regulations, tax laws, ACB policies and manuals etc.
Mr. Salam serves as the focal point for the financial issues with major stakeholders and liaises with the Ministry of Finance, Da Afghanistan Bank - DAB and other concerned local and international banking institutions & financial advisors.
In addition to his experience and personal qualities, he is passionate about finance and accounting and is a highly motivated person with good analytical, brainstorming, and communication skills. Mohammad Salam enjoys working at the Afghanistan Cricket Board and loves to be outdoors; playing cricket, biking and hiking are at the top of his hobbies list.
