The "Head of Legal Department" is expected to support the Afghanistan Cricket Board on legal issues, including but not limited to handling the day day to day legal issues, reviewing contracts, policies and other ACB documents for the purpose of compliance with Afghanistan laws, looking into and analyze the issues having legal aspects and advise ACB management in legal decisions. Conducting researches and writing analytical reports on complex issues through official processes and authorities. Resolving ACB commercial disputes with other individuals or organizations nationally and internationally. He / She will also be assigned as member committees for investigation and drafting/reviewing policies, concepts and other governance documents.

Qualifications At least a Master degree from an accredited college or university in law or any other relevant field. PHD will definitely be preferred Extensive experience working in a similar field, minimum of seven (8) years of progressively experience in related field Knowledge and experience of working in judicial institutions of Afghanistan, having experience in commercial law would be desirable. Knowledge and experience of contract management and dispute resolutions (through litigation or ADR) Ability to speak and write fluently in English, Pashto and Dari languages Strong and Effective communication skills (written and oral) as well as analytical skills Familiarity with ICC rules and regulations Should have competent level proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and official e-mailing, computer skills Should have a presentable, courteous and pleasant personality Should be hardworking, Sincere, Honest, Dedicated, and Self achiever Ability to equilibrate priorities and organize work effectively to meet deadlines Ability to work as a member of multi­ disciplinary team/committee

Job Summary:

The "Head of Legal Department" is expected to support the Afghanistan Cricket Board on legal issues, including but not limited to handling the day day to day legal issues, reviewing contracts, policies and other ACB documents for the purpose of compliance with Afghanistan laws, looking into and analyze the issues having legal aspects and advise ACB management in legal decisions. Conducting researches and writing analytical reports on complex issues through official processes and authorities. He / She will also be assigned as member committees for investigation and drafting/reviewing policies, concepts and other governance documents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice/opinion on different legal issues and assist in drafting legal opinions, memoranda and other legal documents
  • Conducting legal analysis and research on various legal matters
  • Being actively involved in preparing different acts and legal submissions and draft the authoritative legal opinions as well
  • Being actively involved in the process of managing ACB contracts (draft, review, negotiate, execute, terminate or resolving disputes)
  • Reviewing ACB contracts and other documents for the purpose of complying with Afghanistan Laws and advise management on legal implications of reviewed documents.
  • Being actively involved in the process of resolving ACB disputes (through litigation or ADR) with other parties
  • Managing the activities of ACB hired lawyers and the law firms
  • As committee member, writing concept notes, developing plans or investigating issues
  • Prepare the report of ACB for other stakeholders on organizational level in consultation with top management
  • Providing helpful legal assistance on issues such as employment, ACB policies, disputes, construction projects, contracts and other administrative decisions. 
  • Attending meetings and representing ACB on the issues having legal aspects.
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress report to ACB management
  • Carry out other relevant duties as instructed by the management

Job Requirement:
