Afghanistan XI beat Madras Cricket Club (MCC) by 73 runs in a practice match

Batting first, Afghanistan XI set a target of 309 runs for the opposition. Baheer Mahbob top-scored with 76 runs while Rahmat Shah, Asghar Afghan and Najib Tarakai scored 51, 42 and 34 runs, respectively.

In response, the MCC team were all out for 235 runs thereby conceding the match by 73 runs. Fareed Ahmad bagged two wickets while Yamin Ahmadzai, Noor Ali, Mirwais Ashraf, Waqar Salamkheil and Rahmat Shah took one wicket each.

The practice match today is a part of a training camp held in Chennai for the national team. The camp constitutes the first phase of their preparation for next year's ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales.
