In a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that it has approved and supports the staging of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) in UAE in the month of October 2018.
In accordance with ICC Regulation 2.14 on the sanctioning of events, the next step involves the sanctioning of the league by ICC.
Afghanistan Premier League (APL) is Afghanistan Cricket Board’s commercial T20 league which was launched by ACB in January this year. The inaugural edition of the league which will consist of five franchises is scheduled to be held from 5th – 23rd October 2018 in UAE and will include both Afghan and foreign players.
Afghanistan Cricket Board signed an agreement with India-based Twenty First Century Media (TCM) in April this year based on which TCM will serve as the executing partner of APL.
