Afghanistan registered its third consecutive victory by beating the host nation Scotland. Afghan captain Asghar Stanikzai won the toss and elected to bat first. Afghanistan set the target of 211 runs to the opposite team. Shahzad Mohammadi scored another entertaining 75 runs innings, Najib Zadran scored 37, Asghar 34 and Nabi scored unbeaten 33.
Scotland could not chase the target and lost their all wickets after 173 in 19.2 overs. Captain Preston Mommsen was the top scorer with 44 runs. Mohammad Nabi and Hamid Hassan took 3 wickets each while Mirwais Ashraf added 2 wickets into his tally. Shahzad was given man of the match award for his crunching 75.
CEO Afghanistan Cricket Board, Shafiqullah Stanikzai thanks all fans of the national team for the victory. He said the players improved in each section of the game. Chairman Afghanistan Cricket Board, Nasimullah Danish also congratulated the fans for the third consecutive victory. He said the victory was the result of great team efforts and improvement of the players’ performance.
