Mohammad Nabi feels good young talent has emerged from the inaugural edition of the Gulbahar Afghanistan Premier League (APL) T20. Nabi led the Balkh Legends to the title, beating the Kabul Zwanan by four wickets in the final.

Nabi said, “It means a lot to me to win this tournament. In domestic leagues, I’ve reached thrice in the finals but lost. This is a first win for me and I am very happy as a captain. Chris Gayle, Colin Munro, some good T20 players played under my captaincy and they are nice teammates. They didn’t look like they were playing for the first time in APL.”

Speaking about the exposure youngsters got, Nabi said, “They learnt a lot of things, especially youngsters. They had only watched a Chris Gayle on TV and now they are sharing the dressing room and playing with him”

Nabi also went on to add a few names who have been impressive during the tournament. “You saw a lot of young talent emerge during the tournament like Qais (Ahmed), Darwish Rasooli, Paktia had a fast bowler and we too had a fast bowler Samiullah. Some batsmen also emerged. The selectors were watching and so was the Head Coach. So, they all have come into their sight.”
