Afghan Umpire in Under-19 Asia Cup, 2016

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) today announced that Ahmad Shah Pakteen have been selected for the forthcoming Under – 19 Asia Cup, 2016, which will take place in Sri Lanka, from December 8 – 22.

Sri Lanka Cricket's executive committee approved in principle the proposal to play three games at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, the Galle International Cricket Stadium and Matara Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.

Ahmed Shah Pakteen (born 1 January 1977) is a cricket umpire from Afghanistan. He is currently a member of International Cricket Council (ICC) Associates and Affiliates Umpire Panel. Pakteen has stood in matches in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup, Under-19 Asia Cup, ICC U19 qualifier, and in ICC divisions league.

CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board Shafiq Stanikzai said, “We are thankful to Asia Cup management for the appointment of Mr. Pakteen in Under – 19 Asia Cup, 2016. It is a great step forward for Afghan umpires in the International event.”

“I think that the selection of Afghan umpire can set down a pathway for more people to come through the system.” Ahmad Shah Pakteen.

“At the moment my umpiring goal is to be the best umpire I can, concentrating on the game that is in front of me.”
