Peace and Life Charity match raises 2.5 million for Helmand and Uruzgan War Victims

Afghanistan Business Community, Players and Fans Unite to help victimized families lives through cricket. Cricket match was organized by Afghanistan Cricket Board in Kabul on Friday (November 4, 2016).

The aim the cricket match was to raise funds to share a common goal to improve lives through cricket. The charity givers included Afghan government officials, parliamentarians, businessmen and civil society activists. The charity also includes food and clothes.

For the third time, the Afghanistan Cricket Board National team had a charitable logo on their shirt under the title of Peace and Life Charity Match for victimized families of Helmand and Uruzgan.

“I am very thankful to the donors, fans and business community of Afghanistan for share a common purpose to improve lives through cricket. Funds raised will be distributed next week, between Uruzgan and Helmand war affected families in a transparent manner.” Shafiq Stanikzai CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board said.

National team players played Twenty20 match, Asghar Stanikzai-led Chairman XI and defeated Najib Zadran-led ACB XI by two run.

Chairman XI 165 for 9 wickets in 20 overs, Hashmatullah Shahidi top-scorer with his 54 runs. Hamza Hotak of Chairman XI fixed his spot as man of the match for taking three crucial wickets with 27 runs in four overs.

Asghar Stanikzai said, “We are delighted to be continuing to support Cricket United. It’s been an honor for cricketers and the charities working together for the betterment of Afghans.”
