The national cricket team of Afghanistan departs for training camp in India today ahead of a tough mission at the Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh scheduled to start on September 25, 2016.
"The training camp aims is to prepare the team for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh where they are scheduled to play three one-day series followed by ICC Intercontinental games," Nasimullah Danish Chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board said.
Shafiqullah Stanikzai, CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board said, “The idea of leaving two weeks before the start of the event is to enable the players to acclimatize with weather as well as playing some trial matches.”
“It is true that we lost to them in the previous matches, but things have changed; we are going there a much stronger side and this is our time to play good cricket,” skipper Asghar Stanikzai said.
”We have enough time to prepare well. Our mission is to win, and InshAllah (Allah willing) we will win this first ever bilateral series.”
He said we are now concentrating on sharpening our batting and bowling skills; and “This is one of the most important areas of the game, so we have to work a little bit to accomplish our goal,” he added.
Asghar Stanikzai (Captain), Mohammad Shahzad, and Rahmat Shah are performing Hajj in Mecca and will join the team after completing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
