MECCA: Three Afghan cricket players are performing Hajj in Mecca along with more than 2.5 million pilgrims from across the world.

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims have descended on the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia as part of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

For Twelve days, pilgrims of every ethnic group, age and social status from all over the world will pray as one community and take stoke of their blessings as they complete the fifth and final pillar of the Islamic faith.

It is a religious duty of all Muslims - who are physically and financially able - must undertake at least once in their lifetime.

For wealthy celebrities, making the once-in-a lifetime trip to promote the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and sisterhood is that much easier.

Afghanistan Cricket Team Captain and Right-hand Middle-order batsman Asghar Stanikzai, Wicketkeeper and Right-hand-bat Mohammad Shahzad, and Rahmat Shah Legbreak googly and allrounder are performing Hajj rites these days.

"I am traveling to the Holy City of Mecca where I will be blessed to have been able to make Hajj...Inshallah (Allah willing), Allah will continue to bless me to stay on the straight path." Asghar Stanikzai mentioned.

Asghar Stanikzai (Captain), Mohammad Shahzad, and Rahmat Shah aged 29, 28 and 23 respectively, are part of the Afghanistan Cricket Team squads for the upcoming series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to start from September 25 in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
