ACB names players participating in training camp ahead of Bangladesh Tour

Kabul: Bangladesh and Afghanistan will play their first-ever bilateral ODI series in September. The two sides will play the three-match series on September 25, 28 and October 1 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh.

Afghanistan Cricket Board selection committee has named a 26 squad for a fifteen days training camp in India from September 3 – 18, 2016 in Greater Cricket Sports Complex Ground, India.

Nasimullah Danish, Chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board said: "I've made it clear to the selection committee that it'll be tough to make the squad for competing with Bangladesh on their home ground.

"However, we have committed players that they will continue to work hard in the training camp and maintain the high fitness standards and exhibit entertaining cricket for cricket fans.”

As we have found to our detriment this past week, injuries can happen at any time so we need the entire group to be ready to step into the breach at short notice.”

Shafiq Stanikzai, CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board added: ““Objective of the training camp is to develop the overall physical fitness of all players and enhance each player’s game and to prepare them for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.”

The players who have made it into the training camp squad include, Asghar Stanikzai, Mohammad Nabi, Mirwais Ashraf, Samiullah Shinwari, Dawlat Zadran, Nowroz Mangal, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Najib Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Shahzad, Rashid Khan, Yamin Ahmadzai, Hamza Hotak, Javed Ahmadi, Rahmat Shah, Naveen Ul Haq, Nasir Jamal, Najiat Masood, Mujeeb Zadran, Karim Janat, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Farid Malik, Aftab Alam, Afsar Zazi, Ihsanullah Janat, Shabir Noori

Dawlat Ahmadzai, Chief Selector said that, “The team’s bowling performance has been exceptional. We have given chance to the younger players. Strict policy has been introduced in regards to the team’s discipline.”

The final 15-man squad chosen by selection committee for Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh series will be announced publically on www.Cricket.Af.

The first ODI Afghanistan Vs Bangladesh match would be played on September 25, 2016 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
